I love that the Sundance Channel acknowledges fashion week by scheduling fashionable films each spring and fall. This season, they kick off the week on September 9th with the documentary Somebody Told Me About...Carla Bruni. It started off as just a film about a model who makes a success of a singing career but turned into so much more as she become the fashionable first lady of France. I would expect to see plenty of Dior and flat shoes in this one!
Also airing during fashion week is a four part series entitled, The Day Before, that documents the 36 hours leading up to the fashion shows of Proenza Schouler, Sonia Rykiel, Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi and Jean Paul Gaultier. As everyone knows, the fashion business isn't always glamorous behind the scenes and there is always drama leading up to a show like missing or unfinished samples so these should be very interesting! The irony is that anyone who actually works in fashion will be running to shows and parties when these documentaries air so they'll have to set their Tivos. Everyone else mark your calendars!
